MARINE BASIC FIRST AID (EMERGENCY LEVEL)
8-9 hours
This course trains seafarers how to react, think and improvise when
dealing with time-priority, life-threatening emergencies. The course
content includes the Emergency FA content, plus burns and wounds.
Successful candidates will recognize and respond to the emergencies
as identified in course content with a 75% success rate, and will
correctly answer 75% of exam questions.
MARINE ADVANCED FIRST AID (STANDARD LEVEL)
17-18.5 hours
This course will include all material in the Marine Basic FA, and
covers injuries involving the musculoskeletal system, head and neck
injuries, sudden medical conditions, wounds, and poisons. The
content also includes information about oxygen administration, radio
medical advice, medical care of rescued persons, pharmacology, and
toxicological hazards.
Successful candidates will recognize and respond to the emergencies
as identified in course content with a 75% success rate, and will
correctly answer 75% of exam questions, and correctly answer 75% of
the questions in the student supplement.
